Two LeT affiliates arrested in Bla | KNO

Srinagar, Mar 28 (KNO): Two affiliates of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT), a militant outfit were on Saturday arrested by police in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, police said. According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), police officials said that the duo identified as Showkat Ahmad Mir alias Molvi of Wussan Pattan and Showkat Ahmad Yatoo of Chanderhama, Pattan were arrested by police. They said that arms and ammunition including one pistol, one pistol magazine, six pistol rounds, one hand grenade, one AK-47 magazine, 32 AK-47 rounds and other incriminating materials were recovered from their possession. Earlier, a complaint was received by Police Station Pattan about a missing person namely Abid Qayoom Lone son of Abdul Qayoom Lone resident of Wussan who was studying at Government College of Engineering Jammu. Accordingly, a missing report was registered in PS Pattan and investigation was initiated, police said. During the course of investigation, it was learnt that Showkat Mir and Showkat Yatoo had managed Visa to Abid Qayoom Lone for Pakistan and on 23rd February 2020, Aabid Lone crossed over to Wagah Border apparently for seeking admission in MBBS. Officers also learnt that Aabid has been sent by them to Pakistan for joining militant outfit. During further course of investigation, the duo also revealed that earlier in the year 2018, they have managed visa for four youth identified as Umar, Gulzar both residents of Wussan area and Adil Ahmad Mir and Umar Khan both residents of Liver Pahalgam to Pakistan apparently for admission purposes. However, Umar and Gulzar are presently active militants affiliated with LeT in district Baramulla. In this regard, a case under FIR number 51/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in PS Pattan and further investigation is going on –(KNO)
